Remote Learning
At Corley Academy, we are committed to ensuring continuity of education for all our students, even when they are unable to attend school in person. However, we recognise our students need to keep home and school separate.
When We Provide Remote Learning
We may offer remote education to individual pupils who cannot physically attend school but can continue learning, for example, pupils with an infectious illness or those recovering from an operation or injury.
How We Deliver Remote Learning
Staff will provide work through:
- Online platforms that pupils are already familiar with from their classroom learning
- Paper-based tasks that will be sent home when appropriate
- AV1 robot technology for pupils who need to maintain connection with their class and friends during extended absences
Our AV1 Robot
For pupils who are unable to attend school for extended periods due to illness, medical treatment, mental health issues, we may use our AV1 robot from No Isolation.

This innovative technology allows pupils to:
- Connect to their classroom from home using an iPad or phone
- See and hear their lessons in real-time
- Interact with their teacher and classmates
- Maintain important social connections during their absence
The AV1 robot provides a one-way visual link, meaning only the student at home can see into the classroom, allowing privacy for our other students and staff, but allowing the absent student to feel part of their class community.
The pupil can communicate through the robot, helping them stay engaged with their learning and friendships. This approach is particularly valuable for pupils with long-term medical conditions, as it can help them make that step back into school when they are ready.
For all students at home, regular reviews take place to ensure the arrangement continues to meet their needs
