Applying for College
Each year Year 11 students may choose to apply to study alternative vocational courses that are offered by our local Schools and Further Education Colleges.
Vocational qualifications are offered on 3 Levels.
Level 1 where no formal qualifications are required to access the course. Examples of courses: Applied Science Diploma Level 1, Basic Construction Diploma Level 1, Business Administration Level Diploma Level 1.
Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE level study) where usually a minimum of 4 GCSEs at 4 grade or above are required to access the course. Examples of courses: Bricklaying Diploma Level 2, Beauty Diploma Level 2, Floristry Diploma Level 2, Motor Vehicle Diploma Level 2.
Level 3 (equivalent to A level study) where usually a minimum of 5 GCSEs at 4 grade (Grade 4 or 5 in English and Maths) are required to access the course. Examples of courses: CACHE Childcare and Education Diploma Level 3, Carpentry and Joinery Level 3, Dance Diploma Level 3, Electrical Installation Diploma Level 3, Forensic Science Diploma Level 3.
